Cantfindabettorman (NZ) (Sweet Lou) justified his red-hot favouritism when powering to an impressive victory in the Group Three  A$50,000 Interdominion Pacing Championship Consolation (2680m) at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The NZB Standardbred graduate worked into a sweet spot behind the leader for driver Luke McCarthy and from there, the pair proved to be an unstoppable force.

Cantfindabettorman was purchased for $41,000 by southern trainer Graeme Anderson at the 2020 National Yearling Sale at Karaka when he was offered by Woodlands Stud.

Anderson syndicated the pacer among a group of his stable clients including Diane Reilly, Stephen Pulley, Tony Gow, Ray Chalkin, and Dave McHugh.

Anderson prepared the open class star with training partner Mike Love to win several races in New Zealand before Cantfindabettorman’s shift to Belinda McCarthy’s stable in Sydney.

Cantfindabettorman faced a series of tough draws during the Interdominion series.

But the pacer slotted perfectly into barrier two in the Interdominion Pacing Championship Consolation.

McCarthy pressed forward to take an early lead with Cantfindabettorman before taking a trail with two laps to run.

The pacer then peeled out in the home straight to cost to an easy win, without being asked for a serious effort.

The victory was Cantfindabettorman’s 14th career win and it took his earnings past $250,000.

The win also provided Woodlands with a black type double for the weekend with yearlings sold through the NZB Standardbred sales ring, following the Group One win of Lady Of The Light (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) at Alexandra Park on Friday night.

Woodlands Stud will offer an impressive draft of yearlings at the 2024 National Yearling Sales including a full brother to Lady Of The Light.

The breeding powerhouse will offer a total of 35 yearlings, including two by Sweet Lou, the sire of Cantfindabettorman.
