New Sales Race Series Set to Excite

With an estimated million dollars in the prizepool, NZB’s new Harness Million Sales Race Series is open to standardbred weanlings and yearlings offered through the sale ring at qualifying New Zealand Bloodstock Sales - setting a new benchmark for incentive races in New Zealand.

In a ground-breaking move the Series has been opened up to weanlings and the complicated entry process of the past has been abolished in favour of a much simpler approach that incorporates a one-time qualifying fee and a one-off entry fee.

"The Series was widely supported at the 2019 Sales and we're looking forward to seeing the first of the graduates compete for the purse on offer this coming May”, commented NZB Standardbred Manager James Jennings of the lucrative incentive series.

To be administered by the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Board the Series will consist of principal two-year-old and three-year-old races for colts and geldings, fillies and trotters individually, plus other races which may be conditioned and are to include opportunities for four-year-old and older horses.

“We’re excited about partnering with NZB to offer an enhanced Series. The inclusion of weanlings in the mix will be a great addition and we believe that the prizepool will reach a million dollars”, said Sires Stakes Board representative Martin Pierson.

Full terms and conditions for the Series will be released by the Sires’ Stakes Board once finalised and will be available to view on the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Board and NZB Standardbred’s websites.

Three-Step Eligibility Process

1. Both the Vendor and Purchaser have paid the initial Qualifying Fees for Lots offered through the Sale ring at New Zealand Bloodstock qualifying Sales; and

2. A Notification of Entry is made to NZB within 12 days after the last day of the Sale; and

3. A one-off Entry Fee of $1,800.00 +GST is made to NZB within 42 days after the last day of the Sale.

Notification of Entry

To enter a horse in the Harness Million Sales Race Series purchases must notify NZB by way of either:

• Entry on the Acknowledgement of Purchase form

• Entry at the Sales Day counter at the point of consignment

• Entry post-Sale via email, letter or phone

Entry Deadline

• The deadline for notification of the entry of a qualified graduate (except in the case of the sale of a passed-in lot) must be made to New Zealand Bloodstock within 12 days of the last day of the Sale.

• In the case of a passed-in lot, entry must be made within 12 days of the NZB Brokered Sale.

Post-Sale Entry for Lots Passed Through the Ring at the Sales

• Where a lot is sold after, but within 30 days of a Sale, and the sale is through New Zealand Bloodstock and in accordance with the Conditions of Sale, the applicable Purchaser Qualifying Fee may be paid to qualify the lot.

• Where a lot has been passed-in the Vendor has the option of also paying the applicable Purchaser Qualifying Fee as well to qualify the lot. This is subject also to the payment of the full commission on the passed-in amount.

• Where no bid was received for a lot or the sale of the lot was cancelled by New Zealand Bloodstock, the Vendor has the option of also paying the Purchaser Qualifying Fee to qualify the lot.

Additional Conditions

• It is a condition of the Series that no horse has been broken in to harness or hopples and or gaited at the time of Sale.

• A horse will cease to be eligible for the Series if the Entry Fee payment has not been received by this deadline subject to the following Late Entry payment provision.

• All Vendor and Purchaser qualifying payments and entry payments are to be made to New Zealand Bloodstock Ltd and collected by them on behalf of the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Board, and paid to the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Board.

QUALIFYING FEES & PAYMENTS

The initial Qualifying Fees are compulsory at these Sales and are as follows:

Vendor ($350.00 +GST) including
passed-in lots

Purchaser ($350.00 +GST)

Any person who purchases a nominated yearling at a recognised qualifying Sale as above agrees unconditionally to pay the compulsory Purchaser Qualifying Fee.

Qualifying Fees will be invoiced by New Zealand Bloodstock and payment is due as per the invoice terms.

Notification deadline: Monday 2 March

Payment deadline:  Vendor & Purchaser upon invoice.

The initial Qualifying Fees at these Sales are as follows:

Vendor ($250.00 +GST) compulsory for all weanlings and yearlings, optional
for passed-in lots

Purchaser ($250.00 +GST) compulsory for yearlings and optional for weanlings

Any person who purchases a nominated yearling at a recognised qualifying Sale as above, agrees unconditionally to pay the compulsory Purchaser Qualifying Fee.

Qualifying Fees will be invoiced by New Zealand Bloodstock and payment is due as per the invoice terms.

Payment deadline:  Vendor & Purchaser upon invoice.
ENTRY FEES & PAYMENTS

The one-off Entry Fee of $1,800.00 +GST:

Shall be paid by the purchaser to New Zealand Bloodstock in full no later than 42 days after the last day of the Sale.

Subject also to payment in full of the purchase price and all other costs and including payment of the full sale commission.

No further sustaining payments are required.

Payment deadline: Wednesday 1 April

The one-off Entry Fee of $1,800.00 +GST for Yearlings:
The one-off Entry Fee of $2,000.00 +GST for Weanlings:

Shall be paid by the purchaser to New Zealand Bloodstock in full no later than 42 days after the last day of the Sale.

Subject also to payment in full of the purchase price and all other costs and including payment of the full sale commission.

No further sustaining payments are required.

LATE ENTRY

A Late Entry provision carrying a penalty of $200.00 +GST exists up until 8 days after the due date for either Notification of Entry or the Entry Fee Payment.
