Blazing Home (NZ) (Rock N Roll Heaven) broke a track record and kept his unbeaten race record intact when winning the A$30,000 Group Three Breeders Plate (2147m) at Leeton on Boxing Day.

The NZB Standardbred graduate has scored a perfect seven wins from seven starts, with a scintillating performance breaking stakes race success in his first attempt.

Blazing Home was purchased for $22,000 by Matthew Bowden at the 2021 Auckland National Yearling Sale from breeder-vendor Michele Carson.

The pacer won his only workout in New Zealand for trainer Brent Mangos before being sold to clients of New South Wales trainer David Kennedy.

Kennedy’s nephew Jackson Painting has driven Blazing Home in all of his seven wins and described winning the Breeders Plate as a dream come true.

“This horse is very special to all who are involved with him and winning this race has been a lifelong dream for us,” Painting told Harness Racing New South Wales.

“We went into the race as a short-priced favourite, and I knew that I just had to drive him like he was the best horse in the race.

“But I never dreamed that he would win with that much ease ... and run so fast.

“Overall, it was a great result for all involved,” he said.

Blazing Home broke the Leeton track record when stopping the clock in a sensational 1:53:7 mile-rate for 2147 metres.

Chynchilla (NZ) (Sunshine Beach) chased hard behind Blazing Home to run second, rounding out a quinella of NZB Standardbred graduates. Chynchilla was purchased for the bargain price of $3,700 by trainer Shane Sanderson when she was offered at the 2020 All Age Sale by breeder-vendors Alabar (NZ).

Chivalry (NZ) (Sweet Lou) completed a New Zealand-bred trifecta in the Group Three Breeders Plate, while New Zealand-bred pacers made up four of the feature event’s six runners.

The chance to secure outstanding New Zealand-bred stock awaits bloodstock investors at NZB Standardbred’s National Yearling Sales next month.

An outstanding catalogue is set to go under the hammer at Karaka on February on February 19 and at Christchurch on February 20-22.
