Ultimate Machete (NZ) (Bettor's Delight)

Excitement is building ahead of the first public offering of progeny by former racetrack star Ultimate Machete (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) at NZB Standardbred’s first-ever dedicated National Weanling Sale. 

 

Held at Karaka on Monday 3 May, five weanlings by the Champion New Zealand 3YO and 4YO Male Pacer of the Year are set to go under the hammer.

 

Alabar and Nevele R Stud stand Ultimate Machete, the holder of three New Zealand records since his retirement ahead of the 2019-20 breeding season.

 

The two studs have just enjoyed brilliant success at NZB Standardbred’s 2021 National Yearling Sale, where the stock of freshman sire Vincent (NZ) (Art Major) was hotly sought after.

 

Former stablemates, Vincent and Ultimate Machete were archrivals on the racetrack and went head to head in an epic duel to finish first and second respectively in the 2017 Group One New Zealand Derby.

 

Ultimate Machete will be represented by two fillies and three colts at the upcoming National Standardbred Weanling Sale.

 

Consigned by Michelle Carson, Lot 69 is a filly out of 13-time winning mare Bury My Heart (NZ) (In The Pocket). Bury My Heart is the dam of four winners including former Group One winner Texican (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight), who has claimed more than A$1,000,000 in career earnings. This Lot is a three-quarter blood relative to Texican.

 

The remaining four lots are catalogued by Australasian breeding giant Alabar.

 

Lot 75 is a colt out of Cracka Dawn (NZ) (Auckland Reactor). This Lot’s dam is a half-sister to multiple Group-winning and Group One placed Isaiah (NZ) (Art Major).

 

Lot 118 is a colt out of Letsdanceupastorm (NZ) (Western Terror). This colts granddam Let’s Go Party (NZ) (Falcon Seelster), is a half-sister to Group One-winning mares Another Party (NZ) (Holmes Hanover) and Champagne Party (NZ) (Mister Hanover II).

 

Lot 120 is a colt out of winning mare Martine Maguire (NZ) (Christian Cullen). Martine Maguire is a full sister to multiple Group One winner Lizzie Maguire (NZ) (Christian Cullen).

 

Lot 126 is a filly from Motu Race Girl (NZ) (In The Pocket) who has a perfect breeding record, the dam of four winners from four foals to race. This Lot is a three-quarter-sister by blood to Group One placed Vanquished (Bettor’s Delight).

 

NZB Standardbred has also catalogued a number of progeny by trending sire Vincent following his brilliant success at this year’s National Yearling Sale.

11 weanlings, including five colts and six fillies, have been catalogued for 2021 National Weanling Sale highlighted by Lot 112, a colt out of Group Three winner in La Joconde (NZ) (Totally Western). This Lot is a half-brother to multiple Group-winning and Group One placed Alta Orlando (NZ) (Courage Under Fire) and is offered on account of Alabar. 

 

Also consigned by Alabar, Lot 77 is a filly out of Cyathea (NZ) (Fake Left). She is a half-sister to Group One placed Cyamach (NZ) (Mach Three) and exciting up-and-comer Star Of Montana (NZ) (Art Major).

 

Vincent features alongside a stellar line up of quality sires represented at the upcoming weanling sale.

 

There are six youngsters catalogued by super sire Bettor’s Delight, with a further 16 weanlings by fellow leading sire Art Major

29 weanlings by Sweet Lou have been entered in the Sale. Sweet Lou is the sire of recent Group Three Western Australian Derby (2230m) winner and NZB Standardbred graduate Aladdin (NZ).

 

A further four weanlings are offered by emerging sire Rock N Roll Heaven.

 

Weanlings by promising sire Always B Miki will be in hot demand following the brilliant start his progeny have made to their debut two-year-old season in Australasia. There are eight weanlings catalogued by the him.

 

Buyers can also look forward to securing eight weanlings by leading Australasian trotting sire Majestic Son.

 

Following their strong results at the 2021 National Standardbred Yearling Sale, a further 15 weanlings by exciting stallion prospect What The Hill are catalogued and there are 14 lots by Downbytheseaside.

 

Adding further appeal to the bloodstock that will be on offer, all weanlings purchased at the Sale are eligible to be nominated for the lucrative Harness Million Sales Race Series.

 

Leading consignors Woodlands Stud and Alabar will both host a public parade showcasing their weanling drafts on Sunday 2 May at the Karaka Sales Centre, with all buyers welcome to attend.
