Siblings to the Stars Featured in Weanling Sale Catalogue

The close relatives of generations of Australasian racetrack stars fill the catalogue for the 2024 National Weanling Sale, to be held Thursday 23 May at Karaka. 

Among the 106 weanlings and two-yearlings catalogued for next month’s sale, there are 33 siblings to black-type performers, along with 10 sons or daughters of stakes-performed mares. 

  • The first highlight of the Sale comes early in Alabar’s draft with Lot 1, a colt by emerging sire Elite Stride from the Group-winning mare Daenerys Targaryen (Majestic Son). She in turn a full sister to Regal Appointment and half-sister to Pocaro, Sun of Anarchy, Arnold and Springbank Sam. Lot 1 is also a half-brother to the Group placed Ellaria Sand (Muscle Hill). 

  • Tardina offers Lot 6, a filly by Downbytheseaside from the Group One-producing mare Delicata (Falcon Seelster). This filly is a half-sister to Group One winner Chase Auckland (Auckland Reactor). 

  • Lot 16, a filly by What the Hill, from the winning and Group-producing trotting mare Dutch Annie (Continentalman). This makes this filly a half-sister to Group placed Yagunnakissmeornot (Love You), Hot Pants (Majestic Son) and closely related to Kiss and Run (What the Hill). 

  • Alabar offers Lot 20, a filly by Art Major from the well-bred mare Flying Mrs Williams (Falcon Seelster). This filly is half-sister to Group One placegetter Flying Even Bettor (Bettors Delight). 

  • Following closely after is Lot 21 on account of Woodlands Stud. A filly by Downbytheseaside from the star-studded and racing family of Galleons Supreme (Christian Cullen). Lot 21 is a half-sister to Group One winner Spanish Armada (Bettor’s Delight), Group One placegetters Supreme Dominator (Bettor’s Delight), and Bettor Be Supreme (Bettor’s Delight). 

  • Lot 31, a colt by Captaintreacherous from the Group One placed mare Juice Brogden (Bettor’s Delight) offered by Brodgen Lodge. 

  • Lot 32, from the Alabar draft, is a colt by Art Major from Group winning race mare La Joconde (Totally Western). This colt is half-brother to the highly rated and multiple stakes performer Alta Orlando (Courage Under Fire). 

  • Alabar present Lot 60, an Always B Miki filly from the Group producing mare Princess Arts (Art Major), making this filly a half-sibling to Alta Wiseguy (Mach Three). 

    All weanlings purchased are eligible for the lucrative Harness Millions Sale Race Series.
  • Woodlands Stud continues to offer a quality lineup of filles with residue value.  Lot 61, by Champion sire Bettor’s Delight from the Group One-performed mare Precious Rose (Falcon Seelster).  

  • Woodlands also offer Lot 68, a Sweet Lou from the Group One placed mare Running on Faith (Soky’s Atom). This filly is a full sister to Jolimont and half-sibling to The Faithful (Bettor’s Delight). 

  • Lot 84, a filly by Captain Crunch from the winning race and Group-producing mare Veste (Christian Cullen). This filly is in turn related to the Group One placed and Harness Million runner-up It’s All About Faith (Captaintreacherous), Yorkshire (A Rocknroll Dance) and Purest Silk (Rocknroll Hanover). 

  • Tardina offer Lot 96, a filly by Downbytheseaside from the Group One producing mare Bishops Blessing (Live or Die), in turn making this filly half-sibling to Devil Dodger (Mach Three) and The Devils Own (Art Major).  

  • Breckon Farms will offer a yearling colt (Lot 108) by Captaintreacherous from the Bettor’s Delight mare Spandau Ballet, making the dam a half to Group One winner Twist And Twirl (Artsplace), and closely related to the Champion pacer King Of Swing (Rocknroll Hanover), and Group One winner Bettor Twist (Bettor’s Delight). 

All weanlings purchased at the 2024 National Weanling Sale at Karaka are eligible to be entered for NZB Standardbred’s lucrative Harness Million Sales Race Series. The Series consists of principal two-year-old and three-year-old races for colts and geldings, fillies and trotters individually, where NZB Standardbred graduates can contest for their share in a one-million-dollar prize pool.
