Paramount Kiwi and Princess Sadie Rematch in Harness Million Clash

26 April 2024

Paramount Kiwi (NZ) storming home to take out the 2023 Harness Million 2YO Trot.

An excellent last start effort has Princess Sadie (NZ) (Muscle Mass) ready to strut her stuff in the $75,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Three-Year-Old Trot (2200m) at Alexandra Park on Friday night.

The talented filly went nose for nose with fellow NZB Standardbred graduate Paramount Kiwi (NZ) (Father Patrick) in last week’s New Zealand Sires Stakes Three-Year-Old Trotting Prelude (1700m) at the same track.

Princess Sadie charged home from off the pace for a very narrow second placing in her first start since her third placing in the Group One Ace Of Hearts (1980m) at Addington in December.

Trainer Matthew Williamson, who purchased Princess Sadie for $15,000 from Laura Smith’s draft at the 2022 National Yearling Sales at Christchurch, was thrilled with the effort and is hoping his filly can show her speed again in her lucrative Harness Million assignment.

“When she got into the clear she really got home strongly, it was a nice first up run.”

“She has come through the race well and worked well this week.”

“We have drawn outside the favourite, so we will just have to see how the race plays out.”

“But if she gets a suitable run she should go another nice race.”

Matty White will look to go back-to-back with Paramount Kiwi Friday night in the Harness Million 3YO Trot.

Paramount Kiwi is set to start the favourite for the NZB Standardbred Harness Million Three-Year-Old Trot after his strong win in last week’s New Zealand Sires Stakes Three-Year-Old Trotting Prelude.

Trainer-driver Matthew White, who purchased his star three-year-old for $40,000 from the Studholme Bloodstock draft at the 2022 National Yearling Sales at Christchurch, had Paramount Kiwi in front throughout in his front-running victory at Alexandra Park last week.

That effort came in the horse’s second start back from a spell following his victory in the $75,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Trot (1980m) at Addington in December.

Paramount Kiwi looks perfectly poised in barrier 3 ahead of his quest for a Harness Million double.

Bounce N Beyond (NZ) (Majestic Son) chased home Paramount Kiwi and Princess Sadie when fourth at Alexandra Park last week.

The trotter looks a big player in the NZB Standardbred Harness Million Three-Year-Old Trot but he must overcome a wide draw in barrier 8.

Like Princess Sadie, The Merc (NZ) (Royal Aspirations) has travelled north from Oamaru for Friday night’s lucrative feature.

The trotter will start for the first time since his third in the Group One Ace Of Clubs (1980m) at Addington in December.

Aldebaran What (NZ) (Tactical Landing) and Dragonstone (NZ) (Father Patrick) add depth to the stellar field that will compete in the $75,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Three-Year-Old Trot at 7.09pm on Friday night.
