(Our) Maestoso (NZ) (Majestic Son) never gave his rivals a look in as he powered to an emphatic victory in the A$31,000 Group Three Trotters Sprint (1730m) at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Champion driver Chris Lewis took the NZB Standardbred graduate straight to the front in the trotting feature and they proved far too tough for their rivals to catch.

(Our) Maestoso was purchased for $14,000 by Lynley Park when he was offered at the 2019 All Age Sale by breeder-vendors Alabar.

The trotter came into Friday night’s feature after building an outstanding record in West Australia for trainer and part-owner Barry Howlett.

After winning 10 of his twelve starts across the Tasman, Our Maestoso took his record up a level with his dominant victory.

Lewis pressed forward at the start to take the lead before setting a strong tempo with his classy trotter.

When their rivals came up to challenge on the home bend, (Our) Maestoso kicked strongly and never gave them a chance of getting past.

Breaking through for a well-deserved Group Three victory came in the five-year-old’s first attempt in a black-type race.

And it took (Our) Maestoso’s record to 11 wins from 13 starts with career earnings of $70,080.

Breeders Alabar and their star trotting sire Majestic Son (CAN) will both be represented at the upcoming 2024 National Yearling Sale at Karaka and Christchurch on February 18 and 20-21.

At the end of last month, Majestic Son brought up his sixth champion trotting sire title in New Zealand and his seventh trotting sires premiership win in Australia.

Majestic Son will be represented by seven lots at the 2024 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch.

Among them are yearlings from group race performing mares in Kylee Ree (NZ) (Monarchy), Paramount Queen (NZ) (Love You), and Chevron Express (NZ) (Muscle Mass).

Alabar will again present a quality draft at the National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Alabar’s lineup of yearlings are by their star sires Captain Crunch (USA), Lazarus (NZ), Art Major (USA), and Always B Miki (USA).
