Allamericanlover (NZ) Powerful in Premier Mares Championship

Allamericanlover (NZ) (American Ideal) left her rivals with absolutely no excuses following her powerful win in the $62,000 Group Two Garrard’s Premier Mares Championship (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.

The NZB Standardbred graduate worked harder than any horse in the race, but she still proved too strong when running to an emphatic victory for trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer and driver Tim Williams.

Allamericanlover was purchased by Stonewall Stud for $35,000 from the Breckon Farms draft at the 2019 National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Breckon Farms will again offer an outstanding draft of youngsters at the 2024 National Yearling Sale at Karaka on February 18.

Allamericanlover was caught wide early in the Premier Mares Championship before Williams pushed forward to sit outside the leader.

The Group One winning mare shrugged off the extra exertion of sitting in the breeze when taking the lead in the home straight and producing an impressive victory.

“She was really brave the whole way up the straight,” Williams said.

“She kept digging and she has got that real will to win.”

Allamericanlover will now be aimed at the second of Addington’s mares summer features, the Group One New Zealand Standardbred Breeders Stakes (2600m) on February 9.

The classy mare was at the head of an outstanding result by NZB Standardbred graduates, who filled five of the first six placings in Friday night’s feature.

Manhattan (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) led throughout and fought on well to add another Group race placing to her resume.

Fernleigh Blackbird (NZ) (He’s Watching) rallied well to take fourth ahead of Lady Of The Light (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight), who ran a strong race from a tough barrier draw.

Allamericanlover wasn’t the only mare bred by Breckon Farms to impress over the weekend.

NZB Standardbred graduate I’llavabubbles (NZ) (Always B Miki) made it three consecutive wins at Menangle when speeding to a 1.51.1 mile win on Saturday night.

New Zealand-breds won six of the seven races held at Menangle with NZB Standardbred graduates Cosmic Major (NZ) (Art Major), Lou’s Dream (NZ) (Sweet Lou), and Robin Hood (NZ) (Sweet Lou) also notching victories.
