Millwood Nike’s (NZ) Unbeaten Record on the Line in Harness Million

13 October 2022

Millwood Nike (NZ) as a yearling in 2021.

Following a brilliant Group One victory, star filly Millwood Nike (NZ) (Captaintreacherous) will chase the biggest stake of her career in the $150,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace at Addington on Friday night.

In doing so, the Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen-trained NZB Standardbred graduate will put her unbeaten record on the line when taking on a quality lineup of fillies. All Stars Racing Stables purchased her for $75,000 from Millwood Farm’s Christchurch National Yearling Sale draft.

Millwood Nike comes into Friday night’s feature after cementing her star status with a victory in the Group One Woodlands Stud Caduceus Club Classic at Alexandra Park.

The filly’s unbeaten run looked as though it could have come to an end on the home turn before she produced a turn of speed that had to be seen to be believed. The epic win took Millwood Nike’s record to four starts for four wins.

The Group One victory went alongside the Group Three title she already had on record following her win in the Helen Pope Stakes at Ashburton earlier this year.

Millwood Nike will again go head-to-head with her stablemate and arch nemesis Luvstruck (NZ) (Art Major).

Luvstruck comes into the NZB Standardbred Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace after running a creditable fourth behind Millwood Nike in their Group One clash.

The two-year-old started her career with a bang by winning her first two starts impressively, following her $110,000 purchase by PI & GJ Kennard Bloodstock at the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

The Purdon-Cullen trained pairing of Millwood Nike and Luvstruck clash with Carmelite (NZ) (Sweet Lou) from the stable of Cran and Chrissie Dalgety.

The two-year-old comes into Friday night’s feature after running a creditable fourth in a heat of the Dunstan Horsefeeds Sires Stakes Fillies Series. She was purchased by Kentuckiana Lodge for $30,000 from Woodlands Stud’s Auckland National Yearling Sale draft.

Trainers Robert and Jenna Dunn also have a strong hand in the NZB Standardbred Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace, starting both Judine (NZ) (Art Major) and Mystify Me (NZ) (Art Major). Diamond Racing purchased Judine for $80,000 from Breckon Farms in Auckland and Mystify Me for $55,000 from Laura Smith’s draft in Christchurch.

The Vicar Of Dibley (NZ) (Betting Line) rounds out the field for the $150,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace. She was a $47,500 purchase by Jean Feiss from Dunvegan Lodge’s 2021 Christchurch draft.

The feature event will be run at 6.56pm at Addington on Friday.
