Dunn Stable have Powerful Hand in Harness Million 2YO Trot

A powerful last-start victory has blueblood gelding One Over Da Line (NZ) (Majestic Son) primed for a big performance in the $75,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Trot (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.
Trained by Robert and Jenna Dunn of Diamond Racing, the NZB Standardbred graduate is among an outstanding lineup of precocious trotting youngsters set for an exciting clash in the third running of the lucrative feature.
By champion trotting sire Majestic Son out of New Zealand’s greatest ever trotting mare in One Over Kenny (NZ) (Sundon), One Over Da Line was highly sought at the 2021 National Standardbred Yearling Sale. He was purchased for $110,000 by McLean Racing from the draft of White Stables.
In the latest of his two starts, the trotter was too good for a quality field of two-year-olds at Addington.
The Diamond Racing Stable has a strong hand in the NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Trot with three starters.
Kiss And Run (NZ) (What The Hill) will start for just the second time in the lucrative feature, following a very narrow defeat in her debut. The filly was purchased for $80,000 by Diamond Racing from Tardina Stud at the 2021 Christchurch Sale.
John Dunn takes the reins behind One Over Da Line but admitted there is little between his drive and Kiss And Run, who will combine with Tim Williams.
“He has had a bit of an interrupted prep because he missed a race and a trial,” Dunn said. “But he is a nice horse and from the draw (4) he should be a pretty good chance.”
“There isn’t much between him and Kiss And Run, they are both nice horses in what is a very good field.”
The Dunn stable also starts Celtic Arden (NZ) (What The Hill) in Friday night’s event, which they purchased for $22,500 from Arden Lodge at the 2021 Christchurch Sale. The two-year-old battled on strongly for fifth behind Kiss And Run in his debut.
The Listed NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Trot features a very strong North Island contingent which has been lured south by the race’s lucrative stake.
Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan bring two smart trotters south in Halberg (NZ) (Father Patrick) and Southern Diamond (NZ (Creatine), whom they purchased from the 2021 Auckland and Christchurch Sale for $60,000 and $37,500 respectively.
The stablemates filled the quinella with just a half-head separating them in their latest outing at Cambridge.
Tony Herlihy also brings a pair of smart fillies south for Friday night’s feature in Luby Lil (NZ) (What The Hill), a $90,000 purchased by PI & GJ Kennard Bloodstock from the 2021 Auckland Sale, as well as Regal Girl (NZ) (What The Hill) whom Herlihy purchased for $90,000 with both fillies offered by Breckon Farms.
A field of 11 NZB Standardbred graduates will go head to head in the NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Trot (1980m) at 6.02pm on Friday night.
