In The Spotlight (NZ) Signs off Campaign in Style

15 July 2022

In The Spotlight (NZ) as a yearling in the 2020 Breckon Farms draft.

Group One winner In The Spotlight (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) scored more stakes race success when taking out the A$30,000 Group Three Alabar Daintys Daughter Country Classic (2185m) at Pinjarra on Monday.

The three-year-old made it six consecutive victories when leading throughout to dominate the black type feature for trainers Greg and Skye Bond and driver Ryan Warwick.

The Bonds purchased In The Spotlight for $50,000 from breeder-vendors Breckon Farms at the NZB Standardbred 2020 National Yearling Sale in Auckland.

A winner of the A$100,000 Group One Two-Year-Old Diamond Classic (2130m) at Gloucester Park as a two-year-old, In The Spotlight’s latest victory has her on track to seek more Group One success in the spring. The Bond stable will aim the filly at the Group One WA Oaks (2536m) in October.

“She’s hit her straps this campaign,” Greg Bond told TAB Radio.

“She was good yesterday and she hit the line with a fair amount of conviction.

“That was her last run this time in.”

In The Spotlight is destined for another clash with leading Western Australian filly Wonderful To Fly (Fly Like An Eagle) who she downed in her Group One Two-Year-Old Diamond Classic victory.

The classy filly was inspected for the Bond stable at the 2020 National Yearling Sale by leading northern trainer Brent Mangos.

Mangos has purchased the subsequent two yearlings from In The Spotlight’s dam Goodlookingbabe (NZ) (Mach Three) through the NZB Standardbred sale ring.

Mangos bought a Betting Line colt from the mare for $40,000 from Breckon Farms at the 2021 Auckland National Yearling Sale.

The trainer then purchased a full sister to In The Spotlight, a Bettor’s Delight filly from Goodlookingbabe, for $85,000 from Breckon Farms.

Classy mare Allamericanlover (NZ) (American Ideal) was the first of Goodlookingbabe’s progeny to pass through the NZB Standardbred sale ring.

Purchased by Stonewall Stud, the four-year-old has gone on to win eight of her 16 starts, banking more than $100,000 and notching multiple stakes race placings.
