A Million Reasons to Purchase at National Yearling Sale
Thursday, February 7, 2019
New Zealand Bloodstock’s inaugural 2019 National Yearling Sale will offer the first 401 catalogued standardbreds at the Auckland and Christchurch locations, with each yearling eligible for the exciting new NZB Standardbred Harness Million Series.
Boosting the appeal of not only yearlings offered at auction, all weanlings can now also be made eligible for the Series when offered at NZB’s All Aged Sale in Auckland and Christchurch.
An estimated million dollars in stakes will be up for contention with prize pools for two-year-old and three-year-old pacing colts, geldings, fillies and trotters, with four-year-old and older conditioned races for pacing entires, geldings, mares and trotters.
The Series will be administered by the New Zealand Sires’ Stakes Board, with the process streamlined to a single $350 plus GST qualifying fee at point of purchase and a one-off payment of $1,800 plus GST to enter the Series – a reduction of $1,700 from the old format.
“We’re excited about partnering with NZB to offer an enhanced Series,” commented Sires’ Stakes Board representative Martin Pierson. “The inclusion of weanlings in the mix will be a great addition and we believe that the prize pool will reach a million dollars.”
Notification of entry into the Series for all yearlings offered at the 2019 National Yearling Sale must be received by 5pm Monday 4 March 2019.
