2023 National Standardbred Weanling Sale Catalogue Online

The catalogue for NZB Standardbred’s 2023 National Weanling Sale is now live and available to view on www.nzbstandardbred.co.nz.

For the third consecutive year, NZB Standardbred is set to host the dedicated weanling only sale at the Karaka Sales Centre in Auckland on Thursday 25 May.

Showcasing 123 lots, the Sale will feature a selection of the very best potential pinhook, racing and breeding stock on offer, giving buyers the opportunity to source quality weanlings at value prices.

Graduates of the relatively new sale are highlighted by the likes of Alta Meteor (NZ) (Art Major), Sinbad (NZ) (Downbytheseaside) and My Ultimate Baxter (NZ) (Sweet Lou) to name a few.

The catalogue is made up of the progeny from 22 stallions, from heavyweights such as American Ideal, Art Major, Bettor’s Delight, Majestic Son and Sweet Lou, to emerging sires Always B Miki, Captain Crunch, Vincent to freshmen Bettor’s Wish, Elite Stride and The Storm Inside to everything in between.

NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray is looking forward to the boutique sale.

“It’s an exciting line up this year, and looking at some of the graduates who have already emerged from the Sale, I’m sure there will be a few more stars to emerge from this edition,” commented Bray.

Last year’s leading vendor Woodlands Stud have supported the Sale with 48 weanlings by a range of sires.

‘’This Sale is always a highlight for us, where we give the industry access to quality stock by our world-class sires at an affordable price," commented Woodlands Stud Principal Andrew Grierson.

"Copy That is obviously our pin-up weanling sale graduate, and he was sold for just $7,500. He is now the winner of over $1.5 million in stakes, a dual New Zealand Cup winner and one of the favourite's going into the $1 million The Race by Grins this Friday.

“The next Copy That could be among our 2023 draft," quipped Grierson.

All weanlings purchased at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka are eligible to be entered for NZB Standardbred’s lucrative Harness Million Sales Race Series. The Series consists of principal two-year-old and three-year-old races for colts and geldings, fillies and trotters individually, where NZB Standardbred graduates can contest for their share in a one million dollar prizepool.
