Weanling Graduate Brulee (NZ) Powers to Impressive Stakes Win

Just days out from the 2023 National Weanling Sale, Brulee (NZ) (Vincent) showed the class of NZB Standardbred’s weanling graduates by winning the $A50,000 Group Three Three-Year-Old Diamond Classic (2130m) at Gloucester Park.

The New Zealand bred filly produced at outstanding staying performance, sitting three-wide without cover in the final lap before taking over at the 500m and powering to a brilliant victory.

Brulee was purchased for just $11,000 by Beaufine Park from the Alabar draft at the 2020 All Age Sale.

The filly has produced excellent form since hitting the track for West Australian owner-trainer Barry Howlett.

Brulee went into the Group Three Three-Year-Old Diamond Classic after placing in her 12 previous starts.

The daughter of Vincent (AUS) produced a career best performance in Friday night’s feature with her tough staying effort.

Brulee and got back in the field in the Three-Year-Old Diamond Classic before driver Deni Roberts made her winning move at the bell.

The filly helped New Zealand-breds win the first five races on the Gloucester Park card, with Group One winning NZB Standardbred graduate Jett Star (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) also among the winners.

Alabar will again offer an outstanding draft at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka on May 25.

Among Alabar’s youngsters are two weanlings from the family of Brulee.

Lot 61 is a Captain Crunch (USA) filly from Matavutu (NZ) (New York Motoring).

The filly’s granddam Russianero (NZ) (Nero’s BB) is Brulee’s great granddam.

Lot 98 is also a Captain Crunch filly from the family of Brulee.

The weanling is from Shazza’s Dream (NZ) (Pacific Rocket) whose second dam is Russianero.

The Russianero family has produced a line-up of outstanding performers including Els Dream (NZ) (Elsu), Shebang (NZ) (Mach Three), Russian Road (NZ) (Road Machine) and Marika (NZ (Presidential Ball).

Alabar will also offer three weanlings by Vincent at the 2023 National Weanling Sale.

Among them is Lot 58, a filly from Martine Maguire (NZ) (Christian Cullen), who is a full sister to champion race filly Lizzie Maguire (NZ) (Christian Cullen).

Lot 91 is a Vincent filly from Rosie Brodgen (NZ) (Western Terror), who is from the family of another star filly in Classical (Soky’s Atom) (NZ).

Lot 117 is yet another Vincent filly from Tristar Brigade (NZ) (Mach Three), who is a full sister to Group Two winner Trigirl Brigade (NZ) (Mach Three).
