Siring Greats and Rich Pedigrees Feature in Weanling Catalogue

Bloodstock investors are set to be spoilt for choice with the outstanding range of proven and emerging sires represented at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka on 25 May.

Youngsters by the certified stars of the siring world, as well as the emerging forces from the breeding barn line the 123-strong sales catalogue.

With youngsters by Bettor’s Delight (USA) and Art Major (USA) to Captain Crunch (USA) and Lazarus (NZ), investors can bid with confidence that they are securing stock by the most exciting sires in the world.

Seven weanlings by the superstar of the sales ring Bettor’s Delight (USA) will go under the hammer at the 2023 National Weanling Sale.

Each will be offered by Woodlands Stud who have assembled a stellar line up of youngsters by the champion sire.

Bettor’s Delight has produced an incredible number of champion pacers over the past two decades, with NZB Standardbred graduates Don’t Stop Dreaming (NZ) , Akuta (NZ) and Republican Party (NZ) among the latest of his outstanding progeny to star on the racetrack.

Among the Woodlands Stud draft is Lot 8 – a filly from Asabella (NZ) (In The Pocket).

The weanling is a full sister to outstanding Group race performers Ohoka’s Bondy (NZ)  and Dancing Diamonds (NZ).

The latter is also the dam of champion race filly Princess Tiffany (NZ) (Art Major).

Lot 104 is a Bettor’s Delight filly from Turbulent Flow (NZ) (American Ideal).

The filly is from the family of outstanding racetrack performers Party On (NZ), Line Up (NZ)  and Lifes A Beach (NZ).

Alabar will offer six weanlings by Art Major (USA) at a time when his stock is producing outstanding results across Australasia.

Art Major (USA) has started 2023 by leading the two-year-old sires’ premiership in Australia and the three-year-old sires’ premiership in New Zealand.

His siring results in New Zealand are headed by his outstanding three-year-old, the Group One winning NZB Standardbred graduate Merlin (NZ).

Among the Alabar draft is Lot 27 – an Art Major (USA) colt closely related to the outstanding New Zealand bred racemare Amore Vita (NZ) (Art Major).

Alabar will also offer Lot 7 – an Art Major (USA) filly from the family of very promising NZB Standardbred graduate Coney Island Lou (NZ) (Sweet Lou).

Alabar has also confirmed a quality draft of eight weanlings by their record-breaking stallion Always B Miki (USA). 

A continued run of outstanding results has seen the emerging sire stamp himself as a producer of quality elite level pacers.

Currently leading the New Zealand two-year-old pacers’ sires’ premiership, Always B Miki has produced outstanding performers including Franco Indie (NZ)  and Aardie’s Express (NZ).

Alabar will offer Lot 20 – a colt by Always B Miki (USA), who is a full brother to Group One placegetter Miki Montana (NZ).

The youngster is also closely related to New Zealand Cup champion Thefixer (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight).

Alabar will also offer an Always Be Miki (USA) colt from the outstanding race filly Precious Rose (NZ) (Falcon Seelster).

Lot 76’s dam was an outstanding performer at Group One and Group Two level.

With brilliant accomplishments already on the board in North America, Downbytheseaside (USA) is building strong results and becoming an emerging force in the siring ranks in Australasia.

Heading the sire’s outstanding results in New Zealand is the brilliant NZB Standardbred graduate Triple G (NZ).

Woodlands Stud, Tardina Stud and Macca Lodge will offer a stellar line up of 19 weanlings at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka.

Woodlands Stud will offer Lot 52 – a Downbytheseaside (USA) filly from Lady Smack (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight). The youngster’s dam is a half-sister to champion mare The Orange Agent (NZ) (American Ideal).

Woodlands Stud will also present Lot 92 – a Downbytheseaside (USA) filly out of the Group One winning mare Running On Faith (NZ) (Soky’s Atom).

Lot 109 is also a Downbytheseaside (USA) filly from a mare proven at the elite level. The weanling’s dam is the two-time Group One winning mare Utmost Delight (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight).

The progeny of Captain Crunch (USA) was highly sought after at the 2023 National Yearling Sales at Karaka and Christchurch.

Alabar have seven Captain Crunch (USA) weanlings catalogued to sell at the 2023 National Weanling Sale, offering bloodstock investors the chance for pinhooking investments to capitalise on the popularity of the sire.

With Captain Crunch’s (USA) progeny also selling very strongly in North America, excitement is building before his two-year-olds hit the track next season.

Among Alabar’s quality line up of Captain Crunch’s (USA) progeny s is Lot 82 – a half-brother to open class star Alta Wiseguy (NZ) (Mach Three). The weanling is from the stakes performing mare Princess Arts (NZ) (Art Major).

Alabar will also offer Lot 49 – a colt Captain Crunch colt who is a half-brother to Australian free-for-all star, the New Zealand bred Alta Orlando (NZ) (Courage Under Fire).

Lazarus (NZ)

After a stunning career in both Australasia and North America in which he established himself as one of the greatest New Zealand bred pacers of all time, Lazarus (NZ) needs no introduction to bloodstock investors.

The draft of Lazarus (NZ) youngsters at the 2023 National Weanling Sale represents the largest public offering of the champion pacer’s stock in Australasia to date.

With Lazarus’ (NZ) stock selling at very strong averages at recent National Yearling Sales, Alabar’s draft of the stallion’s 14 weanlings offer outstanding pinhooking opportunities for bloodstock investors.

Among the draft of Lazarus’ (NZ) progeny is Lot 22 – a filly from the Fake Left (USA) mare Cyathea (NZ). The youngster’s dam has already left the classy pacer Cyamach (NZ) (Mach Three), as well as Group One performer Star Of Montana (NZ) (Art Major).

Lazarus (NZ) will also be represented by Lot 121 – a filly from the family of champion race mare and multiple Group One winner One Dream (NZ) (Dream Away).

Lot 107 is another Lazarus (NZ) filly from an outstanding maternal family.

The youngster is from Taylor Kate (NZ) (Artsplace) who has already left four race winners.

The mare is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winner Lauraella (NZ) (Christian Cullen).

 

All weanlings purchased at the 2023 National Weanling Sale at Karaka are eligible to be entered for NZB Standardbred’s lucrative Harness Million Sales Race Series. The Series consists of principal two-year-old and three-year-old races for colts and geldings, fillies and trotters individually, where NZB Standardbred graduates can contest for their share in a one-million-dollar prize pool.
