It’s All About Faith Excels in First Young Guns Feature

In his first start at Alexandra Park, NZB Standardbred graduate It’s All About Faith (Captaintreacherous) scored a brilliant victory on debut in Friday’s Heat 1 of the $23,000 Breckon Farms Young Guns (1609m) race for two-year-old pacers.

It’s All About Faith marks the first ever New Zealand Bloodstock graduate winner, after undertaking the of selling standardbreds last year.

All Stars Racing Stables’ Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen purchased the exciting racing prospect from the 2019 NZB Standardbred National Yearling Sale at Karaka. Sold through the draft of Breckon Farms, the Captaintreacherous colt was secured for $130,000 and is now raced by D & M Dunford.

NZB Standardbred produced the trifecta in Friday’s heat when It’s All About Faith, who won by 1 length, was followed closely behind by fellow graduates Krug (Bettor’s Delight) and First Class (Bettor’s Delight). Krug was purchased for $155,000 by Kentuckiana Lodge from the draft of Smolenski Stables, while First Class was purchased from the Rosedale Farm draft for $50,000 by the Kennard’s.

Over the forthcoming months, two-year-old colts, geldings and fillies compete in the Young Guns Series heats worth $25,000 each, with the Group One and Two finals held in March 2020 at the Auckland Cup meeting. Following the Young Guns Series, graduates will have their sights set on the lucrative NZB Harness Million Series, New Zealand Sires’ Stakes and Harness Jewels races. 

The 2020 National Standardbred Yearling Sale will be held over four days of sensational selling in Auckland at Karaka during the 16 & 17 of February and in Christchurch at Canterbury Agricultural Park on the 18 & 19 of February in 2020.
