The NZB Standardbred added to her excellent record on both sides of the Tasman when charging along the inner to claim her first group race victory.

Michael and Roni Lauren bred and prepared Funny Face was for sale at the 2019 National Yearling Sale at Auckland where she was secured for just $12,000 by Kyle Marshall.

Funny Face began her career at Marshall’s stable before joining Graeme Rogerson and Dylan Ferguson’s barn.

There, the mare developed into a consistent performer, winning seven races as well as putting a black-type placing on her resumé.

Funny Face again strengthened her record when she earnt herself a black-type victory with her excellent performance to win her at stakes level in Australia.

The trotter came into the Trotters Spring Sprint after winning four times in Australia following her move across the Tasman to join Jack Butler’s Queensland stable over Winter.

Leading reinsman Peter McMullen secured Funny Face a sweet trip in the trail and the five-year-old was charging before the home bend, awaiting use of the passing lane.

Once into clear air, the mare dashed away for a stylish victory.

Funny Face led a domination of the Trotters Spring Sprint by New Zealand-breds.

The field of 10 was made up of nine New Zealand exports, who filled the first six placings.

Following her win, Funny Face returned to Albion Park a week later and produced another victory, taking her career record to an impressive 13 wins.
