Final Results for 2020 National Standardbred Yearling Sale

After a whirlwind week at NZB Standardbred’s National Yearling Sale, final results have been accumulated from selling over four days in Auckland and Christchurch.
This year’s record-breaking results from the second-ever yearling sale has further cemented New Zealand Bloodstock as market leaders in standardbred auctions.

Final results saw 286 yearlings sell for an aggregate of $12,321,250. The average and median closed at $43,081 and $30,000 respectively, while the clearance rate settled at 78%.
A strong buying bench was present with healthy competition for quality lots. This year, nine horses surpassed the $200,000 barrier in comparison to none in 2019, while 23 horses sold for in excess of $100,000.
Highlights of the week included Lot 146, breaking an Australasian record by being the highest-ever recorded purchase for a trotting yearling. The Love You (ex Queen Kenny) colt was purchased by Peter Lagan Standardbreds for $280,000 from the draft of Barron Bloodstock.
Another Australasian record was broken when the pacing session was topped by a filly in Lot 243, Bettor’s Delight (ex Pemberton Shard) purchased by Graham McClintock for $280,000. Out of the Shard Farm draft, this was the Cantabrian farmer’s first ever purchase in the standardbred code.
All yearlings purchased from Karaka and Christchurch were eligible for the lucrative NZB Harness Million Series.
