Cya Art (NZ) (Art Major) put his Australian rivals on notice when powering to victory in the A$50,000 Group Two Shirley Turnbull Memorial (2790m) at Bathurst on Boxing Day.

Purchased for $27,500 by Stonewall Stud when he was offered among the Wirau Farm draft at the 2019 National Yearling Sale at Karaka.

Stonewall Stud produced excellent results with the pacer before his sale to clients of Sydney trainer Jason Grimson, in November.

The NZB Standardbred delivered driver Jack Brown a career highlight when he proved too slick to be caught in the Bathurst feature.

Cya Art has hit the ground running across the Tasman, securing a Group Two title in just his third Australian start.

Jack Brown set up the New Zealand bred’s win by taking him to the lead early in the Shirley Turnbull Memorial.

And when the pacer outstayed his rivals, the young reinsman was delighted to secure his first Group Race victory.

“It feels pretty awesome,” Brown told the Western Advocate.

"These are the races that you work hard for and the reason you get up early and get into it.”

“I'm just glad that all the hard work is paying off and I'm getting some feature races.”

Grimson will now have a feast of feature races to aim towards with Cya Art, both in his new home state of New South Wales and further after, now that the horse has proven himself at Group Two level in Australia.

New Zealand-breds filled the quinella in the Group Two Shirley Turnbull Memorial, with Taipo (NZ) (American Ideal) running into second.
