Bollinger (NZ) Announces Open Class Arrival with Stakes Win

3 April 2023

Bollinger (NZ) (Bettor’s Delight) announced his open class arrival in style when speeding to victory in the $25,000 Group Three Fahey Fence Hire Autumn Pacing Free-For-All (1980m) at Addington on Friday night.

Bollinger was purchased by leading owner Jean Feiss for $200,000 from the Georgia Brooke Lodge draft at the 2020 National Yearling Sale at Karaka and was a star performer at three-years-old, having produced a string of wins before his second in the Group One Northern Derby (2600m) last year.

Bollinger (NZ) soars to G3 victory.

Put aside in the spring and patiently handled by trainers Mark and Nathan Purdon, the pacer is unbeaten in two starts this autumn.

Tim Williams jumped at the chance to reunite with Bollinger after driving him in his first start as a two-year-old.The reinsman seized his opportunity by securing Bollinger a perfect run in the one-one.

“It was great to drive him again, I drove him in his first start when he ran second to Akuta in the Kindergarten Stakes,” Williams said.
“He has always been a really nice horse, he was second in the Northern Derby and had form around the good three-year-olds.”
“The stable has obviously been patient with him and he’s come up super.”

“It was a really nice win on Friday night.”
Williams slotted Bollinger into a beautiful sit in the one-one and when he angled the pacer into the clear on the turn, he swooped on the leaders quickly, leaving a talented field in his wake.

Three times placed at Group level, including his second placing in the Group One Northern Derby, Bollinger secured a deserved stakes race success with his win at Addington.

The victory was the pacer’s sixth win in just 17 starts and has him poised for a big 2023.

Jean Feiss is clearly a fan of Bollinger’s bloodlines and the progeny of his dam Georgia Brooke (NZ) (Christian Cullen).
Since purchasing Bollinger, Feiss has returned to the National Yearling Sales to purchase two full siblings to her classy pacer.
At the 2022 National Yearling Sale at Karaka, she purchased a full brother to Bollinger for $65,000 and this year’s National Yearling Sale at Karaka, secured a full sister  for $50,000.
