Anything Goes (NZ) Delivers Deserved Success in Superstars Championship

Anything Goes (NZ) (American Ideal) delivered Devon Van Til a career highlight when he ran away with the $43,000 Group Two Coca-Cola Superstars Championship (2600m) at Addington on Saturday.

Anything Goes (NZ).

Van Til and her NZB Standardbred graduate both broke through for their first Group race victories when they sped along the inner to beat a talented line up.

Anything Goes was purchased for $38,000 from the Studholme Bloodstock draft at the 2019 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch by trainer Steve Dolan.

Dolan received something of an early wedding present from his fiancé and stable driver Van Til who delivered an inch-perfect drive to win with his pacer.

Anything Goes had notched placings in the Listed Uncut Gems Geldings and Entires Classic (1980m) and the Listed NZB Standardbred Sales Series Aged Classic (2400m) in his only two prior attempts in black type races.

Van Til secured the pacer a deserved stakes victory when she made full use of barrier 1 by landing Anything Goes a perfect run in the trail following a heated battle for the early lead.

Despite his excellent record, the five-year-old was let go by punters to start at a massive $29 price.

But after his win Van Til joked that Anything Goes is a favourite in her eyes.

“I just love him, I tease Steve that I love the horse more than him,” the reinswoman quipped.

But Van Til also credited Dolan for his work to have Anything Goes primed to run a big race in the Superstars Championship.

“Steve has been working really hard on him and this week thought he had turned the corner.”

Anything Goes led home a NZB Standardbred quinella when speeding home to score with fast closing sectionals.
