Jumpingjackmac (NZ) (Mach Three) boosted his hopes of making the A$1,250,000 The Nullabor with his commanding win in the A$50,000 Group Three Bunbury Cup (2400m) on Saturday night.

The NZB Standardbred graduate added yet another black-type victory to his brilliant record when winning for trainer Gary Hall Snr and driver Stuart McDonald.

Jumpingjackmac was sold for $36,000 at the 2019 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch by breeder-vendors Clark Barron and Eric Parr of Miracle Lodge.

A leading free-for-aller in West Australia for several seasons, Jumpingjackmac worked hard in the early stages of the Bunbury Cup.

The six-year-old was posted wide before sitting parked and then slotting into the one-one for McDonald.

The reinsman admitted he thought his charge may have worked a little too hard as he worked around the field.

But class prevailed as Jumpingjackmac ran to a big win.

“I did think we had done a little bit too much, but we did get there cheaply and we thought the breeze horse and the leaders were the only ones to worry about and nobody was going to make up ground,” McDonald said.

“I knew he has been going good and he got the right run, it worked out perfectly.”

Jumpingjackmac is a multiple group race winner who has several group one placings to his name.

As good as the horse has been so far, McDonald feels he has lifted his game to another level this time in.

“This guy has come back a lot better this campaign and he seems to be a lot better than he even was last start.”

After downing several other contenders, Jumpingjackmac looks a genuine chance of landing a slot in the A$1,250,000 The Nullabor at Gloucester Park on April 19.
